The Streets of Barangaroo is already Sydney’s most exciting new food scene with more than 50 waterfront restaurants, lifestyle stores and cafes now open. Over the coming months, even more new restaurants and bars are set to open with the recent completion of Tower One, International Towers Sydney.

The new line-up includes the recently opened Shirt Bar; New Orleans inspired NOLA Smokehouse and Bar; contemporary Australian 12-Micron restaurant, dessert kitchen and bar; and Melbourne’s Dukes Coffee Roasters’ two cafes: South by Dukes and North by Dukes. Été, a new Parisian bistro by the team behind Vine Double Bay, joins The Streets this autumn along with Bing’s Bao and Beer, by the Lotus Dining Group. Also by the Lotus team is Fujisaki, a contemporary Japanese-Peruvian restaurant and bar with harbour views, opening September. Joining these is sushi train Sushi Hon and a 400 seater Meat & Wine Co. restaurant with harbour views.

French restaurant, Été, is by the team behind Double Bay’s Vine and is due to open in May. The menu is a blend of old and new world French cooking that heroes local produce. Dishes include a selection of homemade charcuterie such as terrines and saucisson spiced with wild juniper as well as classics including blue eye grenobloise poached in citrus and vermouth with eggplant and pine mushrooms.

Bings Bao & Beer is a fun, retro diner-style eatery and bar serving generous baos (think chicken schnitzel with chilli mayo and iceberg lettuce; or caramelised pork with pickles) and substantial bowls of noodles, such as Sichuan style minced pork with chilli. These are washed down with Bing’s own pale ales, created in collaboration with a Sydney brewery. Opening in May for lunch through to dinner.

The Streets of Barangaroo welcomes contemporary Nikkei restaurant and bar, Fujisaki in September. The Peruvian-Japanese menu by Executive Chef Rose Ang spans delicate tiradito through to the smoky flavours of the robata grill, all to share. The sophisticated 110 seater takes advantage of harbour views and boasts an in-house cellar with some 400 wines as well as a large range of whiskey, sake and spirits.

Recently open, NOLA Smokehouse and Bar has water views, more than 500 whiskies, two large smokers and a live fuel pit to create meat and seafood dishes reflective of the diverse culinary influences of New Orleans cuisine. The décor is inspired by New Orleans’ colourful architecture and creates a vibrant atmosphere for lunch, dinner or drinks.

12-Micron opened in March and is a contemporary Australian restaurant, late-night dessert kitchen, and bar with harbour views that accommodates an array of dine and drink experiences. Executive Chef Justin Wise sources predominantly Australian ingredients to create a refined but still relaxed menu. Sweet lovers indulge in a la carte or a dessert degustations by pastry chef and TV personality, Darren Purchese.

Already a firm favourite with the local corporates since opening in February, Shirt Bar successfully pairs perfect-fitting business shirts with coffee and dark spirits. The quirky concept also serves breakfast, lunch and bar snacks by ex-Masterchef contestant Mindy Woods. The menu focuses on local, seasonal and sustainable produce with flavours inspired by South East Asia and Mexico.

Both South by Dukes and North by Dukes cafes have the Tower One caffeine fix covered. Whilst the focus is primarily on coffee, both beautifully designed cafes stock pastries, sandwiches and sweet treats to enjoy in or on the run.

Meat & Wine Co. opens in June with the distinctive vibe of tribal patterns, intriguing textures and genuine artefacts that the restaurants are known for.

These new restaurants and cafes are sure to satisfy the corporate lunch crowd, visitors to Sydney and late night foodies. The Streets of Barangaroo is only steps from the new ferry wharf due to open in the coming months and just a six-minute walk from Wynyard train station via the direct undercover Wynyard Walk.
