Working with (the right) influencers is a great way to raise awareness of your brand among your target audience. For this to be successful, you have to work with the RIGHT influencers, and this is where the challenge begins. Here are a few things to look out for.
Is it a natural fit? 🧩 Do your brand values align with theirs? This account is representing your brand, so think of them more as a partner and ask: ‘do you want them representing you?
Are their followers engaged? 🤝 A tonne of followers means nothing if they’re not engaging with your content. Phlanx.com is a free calculator to measure any Instagram or Facebook account’s engagement rate and also provides you with benchmarks to rate against.
Content is key 🔑 Would you be happy for their content to be on your website? If yes, then you’re good to go. You want content that’s engaging, eye-catching, interesting or informative. There are some truly amazing content creators out there, keep your eyes peeled.
Where are they and their audience located? 🏠 Influencers’ audiences are located far and wide so be mindful of that if your product or service is only available in a very small geographical area. If that’s the case, at least ensure the influencer is in your target area. Before collaborating, ask them where their audience is based (they can see this in their insights) so you know what you’re working with. It’s not going to be an exact science but being diligent will help get you the best results.
