It’s time to put your baking skills to the test! During the months of November and December, host a Bun in the Oven fundraising event at your workplace or with friends and family to help the The Gidget Foundation continue its vital support for families suffering with perinatal depression and anxiety in Australia.

Whether it’s a small gathering at home, an office morning tea, or a party in the park, this initiative hopes to bring family and friends together to enjoy baked goods and open up the conversation about perinatal depression and anxiety. “Bun” can mean many things! Make or buy a tasty loaf, cake, scones, muffins, finger buns, hamburger or hot dog buns. Feel free to be creative with your Bun in the Oven event.

In Australia, around 1 in 6 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers are affected by the mental illness. That’s a total of 100,000 parents each year. The funds raised will go towards education, awareness and support programs for individuals and their families suffering the effects of perinatal depression and anxiety.

Stephanie Hughes, general manager of The Gidget Foundation, says “It’s about baking – not baby making! It’s fun and easy for anyone and everyone to put a bun in the oven!”

Bun in the Oven is a great excuse to wine and dine with your loved ones whilst chatting about an issue that affects so many Australians.
