From Friday 8 July, Casuarina locals will be going loco for Mexican with the opening of the Northern Territory’s first ever Cantina de Mad Mex in Casuarina Square. Cantina de Mad Mex is a lively, new casual dining concept that serves fresh, Baja-Mexican food and cocktails using authentic Mexican recipes and ingredients with a Californian influence.
The man behind the Northern Territory’s exciting new concept is Casuarina local, Nirav Patel. Previously head chef at Voyages Ayers Rock Resort, Nirav decided to ditch the chef’s hat to become his own boss as a Mad Mex franchisee. Focused on spreading the word about great tasting, fresh, healthy authentic Mexican food, Nirav is excited to start trading as the first store in Northern Territory.
He says “I can’t wait for Darwin to try the best burritos in the world! I know our fresh, healthy Mexican food and refreshing cocktails will be a winner!”
Cantina de Mad Mex is by the team behind the hugely popular fresh Mexican grill, Mad Mex. All the Mad Mex food favourites will be on offer as well as additional menu items to enjoy including the Latin American street food staple, empanadas (pastry stuffed with chorizo, tomato and onion) and the delicious jalapeno poppers (grilled capsicum filled with cream cheese and fried). The menu is customisable, allowing customers to choose exactly what makes up their meal and tailor it to their personal tastes and dietary requirements. Using only the highest quality ingredients, just like each Mad Mex store, Cantina de Mad Mex prepares delicious guacamole using fresh avocados as well as slow-cooked and freshly grilled meats, daily.
The Cantina, or ‘bar’ in Spanish, will offer daily freshly made cócteles (cocktails) including the Fresh Coconut Mojito, the ‘Margo’ House Margarita and the ‘El Santo’ Margarita with Don Julio tequila, fresh lime and orange juice with a chilli and lime salted rim – it’s hot stuff! You’d be mad not to try it.
Cantina de Mad Mex boasts crisp washed wood walls, terrazzo floors, and a beach shack vibe with shades of sea foam blue; it is the epitome of relaxed Californian seaside with a touch of Mexican spice.
“Cantina de Mad Mex has a chilled, fun, fiesta-inspired atmosphere which makes a fantastic setting for a quick bite, a dinner with la familia or cocktails with los amigos,” said Head Honcho, Clovis Young.
So, grab your group and come on down to check out the new Cantina De Mad Mex at Casuarina Square.
