Kerby Craig and Regina Jose have opened their new burger joint, Ume Burger, along the waterfront Wulugul Walk at The Streets of Barangaroo. They endeavour to keep things simple, sustainable and in-house serving burgers, soft serve, and homemade Japanese sodas.

There are four signature burgers: Ume Burger (beef patty); Ebi Burger (handmade prawn katsu); Menchi Burger (handmade pork katsu) and Kakiage Burger (vegetable fritter) all served on the custom-made Hokkaido milk buns. There’s also a few sides such as Koji fried chicken with mayo, hot chips with umami salt, and house-made kimchi and it’s taste sensation.

The self-serve soft serve station is as wicked as it sounds. One day it could be strawberry and shiso flavour, the next pumpkin, sweet potato, or lavender and white chocolate.

Head to the Japanese vending machine with a token to get a sugar kick from the house-made Japanese sodas. Passionfruit ginger, yuzu brown sugar, and strawberry vanilla sodas are the ideal way to wash it all down if you’re off the booze. Otherwise, there’s a range of Japanese whiskey, sake, wines and beers.
